Cascades
These are like waterfalls, but usually fall from a taller pool down to another level. It doesn’t have to break the bank to have another pool on a different level–actually, a lot of tanning ledges do this already. Tanning ledges are just smaller, shallower pools that exist for the purpose of getting in your summer glow. A cascade will let water flow to the next level, and give you a beautiful trickling background noise.
Swim-up Bar
These may sound luxurious, but can in fact be added using a simple manipulation of your landscape. If your pool is on an incline, build the bar at the opposite end, so you won’t have to do any leveling. The pool’s edge can stop right at the bar, so all you have to do is install a few bar stools (a.k.a., cement slabs) and you can enjoy your favorite cocktails without ever leaving the pool. This can be great for parties, too!
Canopy Trees
You may have to do a little extra skimming in the morning, but it’s definitely worth it. A tree that gives beautiful shade to your pool will give you that relaxing touch. It will also integrate your pool into your landscape a little more, so you won’t have a pool that sticks out. You could even have a few bushes and plants that push to the edge of the pool and cover a section of the deck, so it feels even more integrated.
