It might be time to remodel your swimming pool. Here in April, it is still going to be cold in the mornings and that means that the water’s not always going to be fun to get into it. You probably won’t be able to get much use out of your pool for the foreseeable future, at least not if you want to host a pool party. So here’s what you need to know if you want to take the plunge on remodeling your swimming pool.
Resurfacing
At some point, the surface of your pool will need to be changed. That’s one of the biggest reasons to renovate your pool. Depending on how old your pool is, it might be time to start the project by doing this – the surfaces generally last between a decent 5 years and an amazing 20 years – it all depends on the finish and how well the water has been treated to balance out its chemistry. Old and damaged material is scooped out, new layers of finish are added, and the pool is then acid-washed.
Make It Safer
The next step is to make the pool safer. Since you’re already required to have a pool fence in place, why not take the opportunity to upgrade it? You can also add ladders and railings if they aren’t there or replace them if they are too worn out to be safe to use anymore. Nets, covers, and alarms also add more safety features that are both necessary and often overlooked when it comes to securing the space around your swimming pool.
Improving How It Looks
Even with all of the functional changes, it’s also worth noting that you can spend time improving the aesthetics of how the area and the pool looks. Fear not – you can hide pool accessories such as pumps and cleaners by the clever use of some landscaping tricks. Try adding a spa pool and remodel the deck around your pool as well. Water features and fire features can also be a spectacular addition to your poolside living space that wasn’t there before. You deserve to treat yourself!
