The pool season is over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start thinking about next year. Most people put the cover on the pool and don’t worry about it until the summer. It’s understandable too, but you should consider the improvements that can be made during the winter. If you’re feel like your pool could use some improvements, don’t hesitate to act on it. Whether it’s because certain areas are getting old or you never updated it after moving into the home, pool renovations are common (and necessary). The cost of a full scale renovation is difficult to pay, so think about the small improvements that can make a difference.
Resurfacing
It’s certainly not the cheapest option, but resurfacing may be the most valuable decision you make. Pools age like anything else, and they’ll wear out over time, especially with all the traffic that it constantly sees throughout three to four straight months. The beauty of resurfacing is that it actually makes your pool look brand new. You also have the option to update the finish as well.
New Water System
The old standard was to have the pool filled completely with the chemical of chlorine. Chlorine is used as protection, keeping bacteria away when we do jump in the pool. The new standard in recent years has been salt water pools. The difference in this type of system is that the salt turns into chlorine. It’s a healthier, more sustainable approach. Not only is it easier on our eyes and skin, but you don’t have to spend as much money on chemicals. This adds to the cheaper maintenance structure that comes with salt water pools.
Smart Technology
Smart technology is increasingly in popularity, as many homes are now full of automation. The pool isn’t always the first place people think of when it comes to smart technology, but it’s a great feature. Robotic cleaners and automatic pool covers would be a start, and you can even go further by adding a control system for you LED lights.
